From Vulcan’s forge to the arts of Mars: An exhibition of European Martial Arts (Lecture)

This presentation will explore the themes and aims of the exhibition under the same name that is on display as part of the cultural programme of the second European Games in Minsk in 2019. The exhibition was planned to introduce the multifaceted aspects of European Martial Arts through a combination of tangible and intangible culture, as represented through objects such as weapons and written sources as well as the ideas, martial systems, and overarching information that lie hidden. Some of the displayed objects will be highlighted to give the audience a preview of this, first of its kind, exhibition.
